British Airways special offer to celebrate Avios launch

British Airways has great news for its customers. The airline has unveiled a special offer for both its new and existing American Express British Airways Card members to mark the launch of Avios.

The airline recently announced that the new customers who obtain the American Express British Airways Classic Card by up till February 29, 2012, will be gifted 9,000 bonus Avios when they spend US1,572 or 1,000 pounds in the first 3 months of card membership. The bonus thus acquired will be enough for a zone one return flight, which includes destinations like Paris, Nice and Berlin.

The launch of Avios is also going to benefit the existing American Express British Airways Classic card members. The card members who book British Airways flights and holidays by up till February 29, 2012 can earn double Avios. Besides, all the card members will also be able to redeem points for car hire and hotel stays.

Among other advantages, the card members will be required to pay less when using Avios for short-haul flights to zones 1-3. According to the available facility, all members holding American Express British Airways cards will be required to pay only the flight cost in Avios and a flat fee of 27 pounds or US$42 (Euro Traveler) or 34 pounds or US$53 (Club Europe) for their return flight, inclusive of all other taxes, fees and charges.

Besides, any card member recommending a friend, who finally becomes a card member, will be gifted an additional 4,000 bonus Avios.
