British Airways to award business class tickets to support SMEs in Saudi Arabia

British Airways recently launched the ‘Business Opportunity Grants’ in Saudi Arabia as part of its commitment to encourage local small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and drive business growth.

As part of this initiative, the airline will award 50 business class (Club World) tickets to Saudi Arabian SMEs. According to the airline, each winning business will be awarded one return business class ticket, useable anywhere on British Airways’ network to grow their businesses further and explore new opportunities. The booking can include up to four sectors. For example, a winning SME can fly between Saudi Arabia and New York return.

British Airways launched the ‘Business Opportunity Grants’ in association with the trade bodies of the two countries – the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the Saudi Arabia General Investment Authority (SAGIA).

The airline considers tangible, human connections as a catalyst for business growth. British Airways also said that it sees this factor as crucial and therefore, launched this initiative for SMEs in Saudi Arabia.

So far, the airline has launched similar programs in countries such as South Africa, Hong Kong, India and UAE.

In Saudi Arabia, SMEs currently represent almost 93 per cent of total enterprises.
