Budget airlines war brings cheap flights to exotic Asian destinations from Australia

With budget carriers engaging into a stiff airfares war, Australians have good opportunity with plenty of cheap flights being offered to more exotic destinations in Asia.

Media reports said that Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia X is mulling to open new hubs in Indonesia, Japan and Philippines. The new hubs are to be opened over the next two years with direct nonstop flights being operated from Australia.

AirAsia X is presently offering flights to Kuala Lumpur from the Gold Coast, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne. The airline will also increase the number of flights and will be adding more destinations in its flight network in the future.

Azran Osman Rani, CEO of AirAsia X, said that the airline wants to serve all the capital cities in Australia, and only very few are left where flights are to be started. He said that negotiation and discussions with different hubs are being conducted.

Apart from AirAsia X, several new budget carriers and routes have opened up new travel options with cheap tickets available to Asian destinations from Australia.

Budget carrier Jetstar Japan has been launched in July this year, five months ahead of its scheduled launch. The airline is offering low fares, up to 50 percent less than what is available on other full service alternatives. Jetstar Hong Kong is also set to be launched in 2013 after getting regulatory approval.
