Cathay Pacific Airways to upgrade first and business class seats

Now you can hope for a more exciting and luxurious experience when flying on Cathay Pacific Airways business class flights in future. Cathay Pacific Airways has recently announced it is planning to upgrade its existing business class seats. The airline is also looking to upgrade first class seats as well. The airline considers its recent move as ‘game changing’ as it braces to include the new Airbus A350 in its international fleet in future.

Cathay Pacific Airways, the flagship carrier of Hong Kong, will be purchasing 48 next-gen Airbus aircrafts. The new Airbus aircrafts are considered a potential threat to the Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The Airbus A350 aircrafts are widely acknowledged as the more advanced and fuel-efficient in the present times. The airline has said that it wants to retire its existing Airbus A340s and Boeing 747s and replace with the new Airbus A350 aircrafts.

Toby Smith, Cathay Pacific Airways’ General Manager – Product, said that the airline expects 22 Airbus A350-900 aircrafts to be delivered by February 2016. The aircraft will be of a three-class configuration – Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class. The larger version A350-1000 will be configured with a first class cabin as well and is expected to be delivered in 2018. The airline has placed orders for 26 such aircrafts.
