Cathay Pacific Airways opened its revamped first and business class lounge at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 in December 2016. The airline had closed the lounge in November last year for refurbishments exercise under which first and business class facilities were given facelift at various airports in the world, including Hong Kong, Vancouver, Taipei, Tokyo, Bangkok and Manila.
The first and business class lounge at London Heathrow Airport is the latest in the series of revamp. The design overhaul of new lounges has been done by London-based design firm Studio Ilse. Newly-designed lounges are being planned to roll out by the airline as several key airports in the world in future.
A spokesperson of Cathay Pacific Airways said that the newly-refurbished business class lounge at London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 is similar to that of the first class and less corporate in comparison to the old lounge. When entering the lounge, the passengers first get a glimpse of the Noodle Bar and dining room.
The Noodle Bar is an exquisitely designed open-kitchen style bar with bottle green, dazzling tiles. The passengers can treat themselves to a wide choice of Hong Kong-style wonton noodles in soup, dim sum, pumpkin congee and dan dan mien. The Noodle Bar also offers a vegetarian menu as well, such as rice noodles and stir-fried noodles.
After the Noodle Bar, the passengers can gain access to the Food Hall, where a long rustic wooden table is placed at the centre along with carrot-colored cushioned benches. Here the passengers can look forward to savoring new potatoes and cream of tomato soup, pan-fried salmon, desserts chilled in fridges, cold cuts and savoury pastries.
The passengers after satiating their hunger pangs can now cross over to the seating space, which is beyond the Food Hall. The seating space is styled on the lines of first class lounge, and has a number of pouffes, stools and armchairs for relaxation. A small, dimly lit business centre with Mac computers can also be found at the back of the lounge. The passengers can also make use of an intimate meeting room on first-come first-serve basis.
