Cathay Pacific to Launch All New Airbus A350 Business Class Seats

Cathay Pacific plans to completely change the design of it business class seats. Its Airbus A350 fleet will sport this new design by the beginning of 2016.

In an announcement made recently, Cathay Pacific confirmed that it has hired none other than Porsche Design Group to design their all new business class section, nicknamed as 'FB3'. This will be the third flat-bed business class seat variant for Cathay.

It has also hired Tangerine, a London based design agency specializing in automotive design, industrial design and product design to design their economy class seats. This agency will also be responsible to do interiors for all the classes on Airbus A350.

Toby Smith, Cathay’s General Manager, Product in an interview said that though the airline is extremely proud of its present business and economy class designs however, the market trends are changing by the minute. By the time we will receive our first order from Airbus in 2016, the trends would have changed. The market is highly competitive and we cannot afford to stand still. Hence we have decided to offer more enhanced features that will turn out to be crucial for our 'FB3'.

Cathay in all likelihood is planning to launch all new first class seats for its Airbus A350-1000 jets. It is expecting to receive the first set of these aircrafts by the end of 2018. However, the airline till date hasn’t started working on the new design. The present first class design of the airline was launched way back in 2007.
