Cathay Pacific to offer premium coffee in first, business class

Cathay Pacific Airways has decided to serve premium coffee to its customers booking first class and business class flights. The airline has partnered with Illy for this premium service.

The customers are already being served the Italian coffee on board the flights. The airline also said that it will begin offering Illy espresso, cappuccino and café latte starting from March 2015.

Cathay Pacific Airways is also working along with Illy for developing “unique coffee filter ‘pillows’ exclusively for use on board the flights”.

Dominic Perret, Cathay Pacific Airways’ General Manager of inflight services, said, “The catering team of the airline has closely worked with Illy for choosing the most appropriate level of roasting for quality coffee beans by the company.”

Perret also said that the overall travel experience of the airline’s premium customers will be enriched with a superb cup of quality Illy coffee served on board the flights.

Meanwhile, Delta Air Lines had earlier in February this year started serving Starbucks coffee on every flight. The leading U.S. carrier will now be serving premium coffee on more than 5,000 flights being operated daily.

Delta Air Lines had first introduced Starbucks coffee in 2013. The airline had then started serving Starbucks coffee on its New York JFK-San Francisco, New York JFK-Los Angeles and San Francisco-Los Angeles routes.

The customers booking flights on Delta Air Lines are now being served VIA Ready Brew Italian Roast and Starbucks Pike Place Roast decaf coffees in recyclable co-branded cups on all its flights being operated around the world.

Delta Air Lines also said that it will now be offering five fare options for its customers. The airline will be offering Delta One, First Class, Delta Comfort Plus, Main Cabin and Basic Economy fares effective from March 1 this year.
