Leading Panama carrier
Copa Airlines has said that it will be launching its flight services from Panama City to Chicago O'Hare from December 15, 2011.
With the introduction of the new services, Chicago O'Hare will become Copa Airlines’ first Midwest destination in the US.
The airline will be operating a daily round-trip flight on the Panama City-Chicago O'Hare route, and will be utilizing Boeing 737-700 aircraft.
The Copa Airlines said that the launch of the flight services will enable the Chicago passengers to connect via its hub in Panama City to various destinations across the Caribbean and Latin America, without immigration/customs waits for in-transit passengers.
The introduction of flight services to Chicago O'Hare will make it the 6th destination in the US. The other five destinations include Washington Dulles, New York JFK, Los Angeles, Orlando and Miami. The flight services to Chicago O'Hare will also be offering the fastest connections to Santiago in Chile; and Bogota, Barranquilla and Cali in Colombia.
Besides Chicago O'Hare, the Copa Airlines said that it will be launching new routes from Panama City to Asuncion in Paraguay, and Cucuta in Colombia in December 2011.
The airline said that it will be operating flight services to Asuncion four times per week. By launching the flights to Asuncion, the Copa Airlines aims to connect all Spanish-speaking countries in the Latin America. After the flight services to Asuncion begin, the customers will have the ease of making convenient connections to San Andres, Miami, Punta Cana, Nueva York, Aruba, Cancun, Guatemala and Havana from Panama City.
Regarding the new flight services to Cucuta, the Copa Airlines said that it will be operating four times per week from Panama City. Cucuta will be the 9th destination of the Copa Airlines in Colombia, and will be offering the fastest connection to Rio de Janiero.
