China Eastern Airlines boosts capacity on Shanghai-Toronto route

China Eastern Airlines has announced it will be increasing its capacity on its Shanghai-Toronto route. The airline indicated that the number of seats being currently offered on flights to Toronto from Shanghai will be increased in the coming months. The airline will deploy a larger aircraft and also add more flights on the route.

Media reports said that the airline’s Toronto service has now been upgraded. The airline has introduced its newest long-haul Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to serve the route effective from May 2015.

China Eastern Airlines first included the Boeing 777-300ER in its fleet in September 2014. The aircraft is configured in three classes and has a capacity to carry 316 passengers. The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, which has now been deployed on its Shanghai-Toronto route, will be offering 52 flat-bed seats in its business class cabin, each of them having direct aisle access. The aircraft also has six private suites in first class and 258 seats in economy class.

Toronto has now become China Eastern Airline’s third Boeing 777-300ER destination in North America. The other destinations being served by B777-300ER service include Los Angeles and New York. The airline has placed orders for 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts and so far received five such long-haul aircrafts.

China Eastern Airlines in a statement said that it will initially operate Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with thrice weekly flights services between Toronto Pearson International Airport and Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport. The route will be served on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays every week. However, the airline will introduce daily flights between the two destinations starting from June 10, 2015.
