China Eastern Airlines launches nonstop Nanjing-Vancouver flights

China Eastern Airlines has launched new nonstop flights between Canada and China. The new service started operating between Chinese city Nanjing and Canada’s key city Vancouver from December 20, 2016. The thrice weekly flights to Vancouver from Nanjing will be conducted on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays every week. The route will be served with the help of Airbus A330-200 aircrafts and would cover a distance of 9,125 km. China Eastern Airlines, which is a member of leading global airline alliance SkyTeam, would be facing no direct competition from other international carriers for quite some years now.

China Eastern Airlines first started serving Vancouver in 2004. The maiden service was launched from Shanghai Pudong. The airline is serving Vancouver-Shanghai Pudong route 11 times weekly. Craig Richmond, President & CEO of Vancouver Airport, said, “It is a matter of great delight that China Eastern Airlines has selected Vancouver for launching its new service from Nanjing. Now travelers from all over Canada would be provided seamless access to Nanjing, which is China’s major economic hub and place of immense historical importance. This will also be the airline’s only nonstop service between Nanjing and Vancouver.”

Earlier, China Eastern Airlines expanded its flights services in the United States in September last year. The airline launched thrice weekly flights between Kunming and San Francisco with a stopover in Qingdao effective from September 29, 2016. The route is being served utilizing an Airbus A330-200 aircraft, and with virtually no direct competition from other airlines whatsoever.

China Eastern Airlines is already offering flights between Shanghai Pudong and San Francisco. The airline is now serving a total of seven U.S. routes. Apart from Qingdao, other Chinese cities offering connections to San Francisco include Xi’an, Wuhan, Shamghai, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Beijing. Presently, 13 U.S. airports are being served with nonstop flights services from China. Major U.S. airports serving Chinese cities include New York JFK, Chicago O’Hare, Los Angeles, Honolulu and San Francisco.
