China Southern Airlines launching Guangzhou-NY flights Aug 6

China Southern Airlines recently announced it will be launching its new nonstop flights from Guangzhou to New York in August this year. The airline, which is currently the largest in the country in terms of fleet size, will start operating flights between the two destinations effective from August 6, 2014. The airline will deploy its 309-seat Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to operate four roundtrip weekly flights, which will take nearly 16 hours for a single trip.

The airline in a statement said that this will be its first nonstop service to New York from Guangzhou in Chinese Mainland. The flights between the two destinations are being introduced considering the growing passenger demand in the two largest economies of the world.

This will also be China Southern Airline’s first nonstop service connecting the east coast of the United States with China. Earlier, the airline started serving the west coast of the United States with the launch of its flights to Los Angeles in July 1997.

Meanwhile, China Southern Airlines launched its new flights between Guangzhou and Frankfurt on June 24, 2014. The afternoon flight between the two destinations will from Frankfurt at 14:15 local time. The flights will be operated thrice weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flights from Frankfurt to Guangzhou will be via Changsha, a new destination in central China. The new Guangzhou-Changsha-Frankfurt route will be served by Airbus A330-200 aircrafts. A single trip will take about 19 hours. The aircraft will be configured in four classes and will have a seating capacity of about 250 passengers.
