China Southern Airlines set to begin direct Shenyang-Guam flights

China Southern Airlines has announced it is all set to launch its direct flights to Guam from Shenyang City soon. The leading Chinese carrier has decided to organize a familiarization trip comprising of Shenyang City officials, tourism industry professionals and airline representatives this sunnier before the flights are finally launched.

Media reports said that Guam Governor Eddie Calvo and China Southern Airlines’ Vice President Qi Peng held a luncheon meeting recently and discussed the launch of direct flights services between Guam and the Chinese city.

The reports said that Governor Calvo is also holding dialogue with business leaders and federal aviation authorities for the smooth processing of visas in order to facilitate easier travel for the people of the two regions. Guam will get a major boost towards reaching its Tourism 2020 goals with the launch of the flight operations from Shenyang City.

According to the reports, Guam witnessed record-breaking tourist arrivals in February 2015. A total of 126,080 tourists arrived in Guam this February, thus reporting an increase of 7 percent when compared to February 2014.

Governor Calvo during the luncheon meeting with Shenyang City Deputy Mayor Qi Ming said that the launch of flights between Guam and Shenyang City has generated excitement among the people of the two regions and is being awaited eagerly. The launch of flights will strengthen the relationships and prominently showcase Guam as a leading destination for tourists and investors. Calvo also said that the increase in the number of tourist arrivals in Guam has also instilled confidence and brightened tourism prospects further. This is also an opportunity to promote the Chamorro culture and all that what makes Guam unique.
