Cleveland's Tudor Arms Hotel listed in Historic Hotels of America

The famous Tudor Arms Hotel in Cleveland has recently gained a place of prominence in the Historic Hotels of America. The hotel was originally an exclusive men’s club and completed in 1933. The Historic Hotels of America, which inducted the hotel in the prestigious list, is an organization dedicated to celebrating the best of the past in the hotels and lodging world.

The Tudor Arms is a renowned hotel and student housing in Cleveland for the nearby Case Western Reserve University. It is situated at Carnegie Avenue and E. 107th Street. It has primarily functioned as the swanky Cleveland Club during its over 80-plus year existence. It was till recently home to an education and training center Cleveland Job Corps.

Cleveland architect Frank Meade was the chief architect of this 12-story Gothic revival structure. DoubleTree by Hilton acquired it in 2011 and has since been operating as a hotel.  The Tudor Arms now consists of 157 rooms, the Crystal Ballroom, two spectacular ballrooms and the two-story Tudor Ballroom.

The Tudor Arms has made Cleveland proud by being the first hotel to be included on the prestigious Historic Hotels roster, which is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The Tudor Arms has already found a place on the National Register since 1994. More than 260 historic hotels across the United States have been listed in the registry. These among others also include the Best Western Mariemont Inn, the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza and the Cincinnatian. All the three hotels are based in the Cincinnati area in Ohio.
 
The criteria to be included in the Historic Hotels of America register include being at least 50 years old, be either eligible for listing or listed on the National Register of Historic Places or a National Historic Landmark, and have a historical significance.
