The 60-year-old Germany’s third largest carrier Condor Airlines has announced its biggest ever expansion in the United States ever since it was founded. The airline said it will be expanding its route network during the summer season with the launch of several nonstop flights to Frankfurt and beyond from various U.S. destinations such as New Orleans, Pittsburgh and San Diego.
Media reports also said that Condor Airlines will be adding new, nonstop flights to Munich from its existing U.S. gateways in Las Vegas and Seattle. It may be noted that Condor Airlines is presently offering services to a total of 11 gateways in the United States. It is also the only low-cost carrier to offer full-service, inclusive fares in the U.S. The airline has said it will be deploying Boeing 767-300 aircrafts, with three-class configuration, to serve all the new routes.
According to the reports, Condor Airlines, which is a subsidiary of Thomas Cook Group Airlines, will be for the first time offering flights from Pittsburgh, San Diego and New Orleans. Apart from these, the U.S. destinations being currently served by the airline includes Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Las Vegas, Fairbanks, Baltimore, Austin and Anchorage.
Travel experts said that Thomas Cook Group Airlines, of which Condor Airlines is a part, had over the years witnessed a significant increase in the number of flights to/from North America. The passenger traffic to Europe from North America has more than doubled during the past three years. The traffic surge also resulted because of the nine new routes being launched during this 3-year period. The airline has been used by above one million passengers to travel via the North Atlantic in 2016.
Condor Airlines is currently into codeshare partnership with leading U.S. discount carriers such as Sun Country Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Alaska Airlines. The German carrier’s extensive route network includes above 75 destinations being provided seamless connectivity to more than 230 destinations worldwide in association with U.S. codeshare partners and other carriers, such as Lufthansa, Swiss International Air Lines and Croatia Airlines.
