Condor Airlines to connect Rhode Island with Frankfurt next June

Germany-based Condor Airlines has announced it will be launching flights to Frankfurt from Providence’s T.F. Green Airport effective from June 18, 2015. The flights to be operated twice weekly would be T.F. Green Airport’s first regular European route.

The airline will be operating the flights with the help of a 259-seat Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The seasonal flights would be operated on Mondays and Thursdays every week through September 2015. The flights on Providence-Frankfurt route will again resume from June 2016.

The launch of the new route has been particularly welcomed by the residents of Rhode Island. The new international service to T.F. Green Airport starting from next summer will provide direct and affordable connection to Rhode Island travelers for traveling to Frankfurt and Europe.

Media reports quoting a U.S. Senator said that the new seasonal flight would be beneficial as this would help Rhode Island to further transform into a popular destination for tourists from European countries as well as help expand businesses as well.

Apart from launching flights on Providence-Frankfurt route, Condor Airlines has also indicated that it would also be introducing new nonstop flights between Frankfurt and Portland International Airport. The flights between the two cities would be launched from June 19, 2015. The flights will be operated twice weekly departing from Portland on Tuesdays and Fridays every week.

According to the airline, the direct flight between Frankfurt and Portland is aimed at filling a vacuum created by Lufthansa when it stopped its services between the two destinations. Germany’s national carrier Lufthansa operated flights to Portland between 2003 and 2009.
