Delta Air Lines and Garuda Indonesia signs Codeshare

Delta Air Lines and Garuda Indonesia has signed a codeshare agreement. Government approval to this agreement is pending and tickets are likely to be available from July 2014.

This codeshare agreement allows placing of Garuda code on Delta flights that operates flights from Tokyo to Los Angeles and Tokyo to Seattle. The flights are properly timed enabling Garuda passengers to take connecting flights from Tokyo to Los Angeles and Seattle. This codeshare will offer passengers one-stop flight from Indonesia to US via Tokyo.

The codeshare flights will use Delta’s Boeing 767-300 ER aircraft. This aircraft in business class features full-flat seats having direct access aisle. Economy class has comfort seats and individual in-flight entertainment. In addition, business class passengers can enjoy five-course gourmet clubbed with an extensive wine menu compiled by Andrea Robinson, a world famous Master Sommelier. To give complete In-flight experience exclusively designed bedding including comforters and pillows by Westin Heavenly and Tumi amenity kits with Malin+Goetz products are being offered.

To completely simulate the experience of Delta Airlines, Garuda Indonesia will use Airbus A330-300 on Jakarta - Tokyo route. This aircraft will have similar features in business class and economy class. There are 36 seats in business class with full-flat seats. The economy class will have spacious cabin together with in-flight entertainment in each seat.

Robert Blake, Ambassador U.S., said the codeshare between Delta Airlines and Garuda Indonesia will increase connectivity between United States and Indonesia. This will increase business and tourisms in Indonesia.

Vinay Dube, vice president Delta Airlines, said passengers from both places will now have more options for travel and will increase trade and commerce. This codeshare will allow passengers to have smooth travel experience. The connectivity will lead to growth in markets.

Erik Meijer, EVP Sales and Marketing Garuda Indonesia, is very glad about the partnership between Garuda and Delta. This will help increase the network to United States. He further added that codeshare is part of Garuda and Delta’s initiative as joint members of SkyTeam global alliance. In future there will be more destinations and flights added so as to benefit travelers. People can reach to Indonesia very easily and enjoy the tourist places. Indonesia will have increased economic, business, and other social benefits due to this link.
