Delta Air Lines into partnership pact with Air Nigeria

Leading U.S. carrier Delta Air Lines recently announced it has entered into partnership with Nigeria’s flag carrier Air Nigeria. The airline has initiated this move in an attempt to further widen its operations and become a top player in the African continent.

The airline said in a statement that it has been operating in Africa for the past six years now. It stated that it has invested in Senegal, Ghana and Nigeria in these six years.

Air Nigeria has in the last three years dominated the West and Central African regions.

Delta Air Lines has stated that its passengers will now be able to buy air tickets for their flights to the African continent. The airline hopes that its partnership with Air Nigeria will be strengthened and grow beyond regional cooperation.

Perry Cantarutti, Delta Air Lines’ Senior Vice President Europe, Middle East and Africa, said that the airline is delighted to begin codeshare partnership with Air Nigeria, which will help expand travel options and increase customer demand. He also said that the partnership will bring increased access between destinations in West and Central Africa and the United States.

Both the carriers are also planning to sign reciprocal frequent flyer agreement to allow passengers to earn and redeem miles for flights on either of the carriers.
