Delta Air Lines launches more regular routes, attractive fares

Delta Air Lines recently started operating more regular flights between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and South Korea’s Seoul Incheon International Airport. The airline’s nonstop flights to Seoul from Seattle will be its 8th route on its global network.

The launch of new Seattle-Seoul route is likely to pose a major problem for Alaska Airlines, which according to Delta Air Lines’ gameplan is to force a merger or drive it away completely from business. The two airlines though continue to be a codeshare partner. Media reports said that despite being a codeshare partner, Delta still remains a major threat to Alaska Airlines even on those routes which it considers to be quite profitable.

The reports revealing Delta’s modus operandi to outwit Alaska Airlines and throw it out of business stated that the airline is planning more flights to/from State of Alaska with more routes to become operational in future.

The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport has seen significant changes over the past few years. The airport has in fact turned into a major hub for big U.S. carriers such as Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and American Airlines. With the presence of big carriers, small players like Alaska Airlines are finding it difficult now to sustain and remain profitable.

The competition has been so intense that some of the airlines such as Continental Airlines, TWA, Northwest Airlines and US Airways had to finally shut down their operations from here because of unprofitability resulting in huge losses of jobs as well.

In order to implement its objectives completely, Delta Air Lines has announced cheap airfares and a range of attractive deals for travelers to/from Seattle. The airline now wants to make it even tougher for Alaska Airlines to continue offering its services from here. Even United Airlines has introduced cheap tickets starting as low as $49* one-way on Chicago-Seattle and Los Angeles-Seattle routes.

* The fares are one-way and inclusive of all government taxes, airport fees and fuel surcharges. Other terms and conditions are applicable.
