Delta Air Lines launching nonstop Piedmont-New York flights

Delta Air Lines recently announced that it will be launching its nonstop flights from Piedmont Triad International Airport to New York City at a ceremony on March 25, 2012.

According to the airline, nonstop Delta Air Lines flights will begin operating three-times daily. The passengers can now book air tickets for nonstop flights departing Piedmont Triad International Airport at 6.07 am, 11.25 am and 5 pm to New York LaGuardia International Airport.

Delta Air Lines in a statement said it is also planning to begin a nonstop flight to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport from Piedmont starting June 7, 2012.

The new nonstop flights are being launched following federal regulators approval of Delta Air Lines’ swap of takeoff and landing rights with US Airways in October last year. 

The Piedmont Triad International Airport had to lose two nonstop flights to New York as part of the swap. However, Piedmont airport gained its first service into New York JFK because of the swap.

With the loss of the two New York flights, the Piedmont Triad International Airport will now have to handle only 57 daily nonstop flights.
