Delta Air Lines Memphis-Amsterdam daily service ends in September

Delta Air Lines recently announced they will end ticket sales on their Memphis-Amsterdam route. Delta will be ending its regular daily service between these two cities as of September 2012.

The changes to their Memphis-Amsterdam route followed the unveiling of the summer schedule by KLM last week.

The daily flights between Memphis International Airport and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol began under a Northwest KLM agreement in 1995. The airline said that now the daily flights will be converted into seasonal flights returning this summer.

Maintaining profit margins for the trans-Atlantic service in the winter off-season for tourism had become difficult for the Atlanta-based Delta Air. Other global carriers have followed the same practice going forward.

According to Delta, travel to and from Asia and Latin American markets continue to grow across different travel seasons.
