Delta Air Lines to initiate restructuring exercise to offset losses

Delta Air Lines has decided to make its flights operations more profitable. The airline recently announced it will undertake restructuring exercise to earn more revenues.

The airline in a statement said that about 2,000 workers are taking early retirement offers being provided by Delta Air Lines. This will allow the airline to reduce its staff significantly. The airline has also indicated that it will curtail more flights on some unprofitable routes.

According to the airline, there will be a cut in international flights operations as well. This announcement has come just after the opening of the Atlanta airport’s new international terminal with additional gates.

Delta Air Lines has announced several restructuring plans. The airline revealed that there will be another 5 percent cut in trans-Atlantic flight capacity due to the weakened euro and the risk of fuel price spikes. Apart from this, there will be another 1 to 2 percent flight capacity reduction in the Pacific region as well.

The airline said that the total cut in its flight capacity will be by 3 to 4 percent this year, deeper than the earlier 2 to 3 percent cuts planned.
