Delta Air Lines to refurbish 225 domestic narrowbody planes

Delta Air Lines is all set to provide a new flying experience to its customers booking airline tickets on its domestic routes in future. The leading U.S. carrier has announced that it will be investing more than $770 million to refurbish its 225 narrowbody aircrafts operating on domestic routes within the United States. The upgrade is likely to be completed in 2016.

A spokesperson of Delta Air Lines said that the changes would be made to the airline’s domestic fleet comprising of Boeing 757-200 and Boeing 737-800 aircrafts. The upgrades would also be made to Airbus A319 and Airbus A320 aircrafts. The spokesperson said that the reconfigured aircrafts will be equipped with new slim-line seats, power outlets will be provided at each seat, updated bathrooms, and each seat will have adjustable headrest. The airline is now providing Wi-Fi on all its two-class aircrafts plying on domestic routes and plans to extend the facility on its entire international fleet as well by 2015.

According to the airline, the slim-line seats would be smaller and made of lighter-weight frames occupying less space than before. There will also be fewer business class seats in some Boeing 757 aircrafts and more coach seats would be added in place of these. The airline wants to ramp up its earnings by adding more seats. Delta Air Lines also stated that it will be adding 19 seats in is Boeing 757-200 aircrafts, six additional seats on its Airbus A319 aircrafts and 10 extra seats on its Airbus A320 aircrafts.
