Delta Air Lines to serve on Tokyo Haneda-Seattle route

Delta Air Lines will now be operating its flights services between Tokyo Haneda and Seattle. The airline was recently awarded rights by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DoT) to serve on Tokyo Haneda-Seattle route.
The airline in a statement said that it was able to win flying rights after a tough contest among the major U.S. carriers.

According to the Department of Transportation, the United States currently owns four pairs of slots at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport as per the bilateral to be used between 2200-0700 L at Haneda.

The DoT said that Delta Air Lines had originally made a request to move its Detroit-Haneda rights to Seattle. However, other U.S. carriers also chipped in and filed proposals to use the Haneda slots.

Earlier, while placing its proposal to the DoT Delta Air Lines had assured that it would make the most productive use of a US – Haneda slot pair. The airline contended that Seattle is currently the largest US – Tokyo O&D market without any nonstop flights services to Haneda. The airline also said that through its own services, along with the partnership with Alaska Airlines, it will be able to offer one-stop service to Haneda from 42 departure points in the United States.
