Delta to Offer Los Angeles-Mazatlan Service from December 20

Mazatlan 'Pearl of the Pacific,' is soon going to receive direct nonstop flights from Los Angeles by Delta Air Lines. Flights on this new route will commence this winter.

Beginning December 20, Delta Air Lines will operate daily round-trip flights on this sector. 160-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft initially serving seasonal flights will eventually offer year round flights between the city pair. This will increase the overall air capacity on this route by 15 percent.

By adding this route Delta has turned to be the first major American airline to offer once-daily yearly flights from Los Angeles to Mazatlan. This route will also give direct competition to Alaska Airlines, already serving directs flights. Alaska offers once daily flight during spring and winter and reduces its frequency during early fall and summer on this route. US Airways also flies to Mazatlan offering connecting flights through Phoenix.

Year-round accessibility from the West Coast of the United States will bring economic prosperity to our region. Outside Mexico City, California has been our primary market. Hence, enhanced connectivity to the region is like a big accomplishment for us. Flight connections to the U.S. have always been our priority and a connection from LA is like a boon. Los Angeles International Airport serves as a hub for many American and global carriers. Passengers will be able to enjoy seamless connectivity from LA to not just Californian cities but even to other domestic and global cities.

Mazatlan, Mexico's "Colonial City on the Beach," is a popular resort destination. It receives nearly 300,000 travelers from the U.S. and Canada every year. Unique colonial history, world-class beaches, sumptuous food and more makes this city a delight for travelers.

Delta's L.A. service will complement its present Mazatlan operations provided from its Minneapolis/St. Paul hub. Delta flies to a total of 10 destinations in Mexico, including that of Mazatlan.
