Delta to remove business class seats from B777 to boost revenue

Delta Air Lines wants to increase its revenues and is making sincere efforts towards this. The airline will reduce the sale of business class tickets on its Boeing 777 and 767 aircrafts. Delta Air Lines recently announced it will be removing some of its business class seats from the B777 aimed at increasing revenues. The airline in a statement said that seven seats would be removed from the existing 45-seat B777 business class cabin. The airline will instead add 23 economy seats in place of the removed business class seats.

Delta Air Lines says it won’t simply stop at this. It has further indicated that some of the business class seats on its Boeing 767 aircrafts would also be removed and replaced by economy class seats. The airline said that its current 36 to 40-seat business cabin on B767s will see a reduction of 12 seats, and will see 20 additional seats being installed in the economy class.

The airline has however not yet revealed the numbers of its B777 and B767 aircrafts that will be reconfigured according to the new plans and the routes that would be affected with this exercise. To many, this recent news has come as a bit of surprise. Delta Air Lines considers long-haul business class as its most profitable product, but the decision to downsize its business class cabin on B777 and B767 aircrafts is indeed puzzling.
