Disneyland is all set to get a new luxury hotel in future. An application has recently been submitted to the city of Anaheim by Disney officials for building a new high-end hotel, which will come up for the first time in 20 years.
This will be Disneyland Resort's fourth property. The proposed hotel is due to have a parking lot spanning in a 10-acre area. It will be situated on the western side of Disney’s property. Media reports said that a city incentive program is going to benefit the proposed hotel. Under the city incentive program, a 4-diamond or 4-star hotel is allowed to keep with it 70 percent bed taxes for a period of 20 years.
According to Disneyland Resort officials, Walt Disney Imagineering has been entrusted with the responsibility of designing the new hotel, which will comprise of a total of 700 rooms. Other Disneyland attractions have been designed by the same company. The construction of the new hotel is due to begin in 2018 and it would be completed by 2021.
Disneyland Resort currently has two 4-diamond hotels – the Grand Californian Hotel and Spa and the Disneyland Hotel. The third property is the Paradise Pier hotel, which has been rated a 3-diamond hotel. The fourth proposed hotel will be built after nearly 20 years.
The theme of the proposed hotel is yet to be announced by Disney officials. However, the amenities to be provided here have already been revealed, which include a “water play area”, two pools, a rooftop restaurant and a rooftop terrace.
According to the estimates put forth by Disney officials the new hotel is expected to earn above $150 million in revenues as bed taxes, in addition to sales and property taxes for Anaheim city over a period of 20 years. The officials further stated that nearly $750 million is expected to be raised in bed taxes over a period of 40 year.
