Diverse Dancing Nightlife in Buenos Aires - Tango and Milongas

Porteños love to dance and not just tango. One can find them dancing in night clubs until 6 am and then going to work at 8 am. The alcohol does not quite affect the unlimited fun on the dance floor. The old tangueros can be seen in most of the night clubs. The city’s customs, the importance of first impression and fashion imperatives are unique and may take some time for you to get accustomed to. The number of night clubs in the city is countless; however, the top few feature live music, tango and all genres of music.

Bahrein
This club located at Lavalle 345 in Centro is a party palace. The building was a bank which was later transformed into chic and Sheik—er place with three rooms. The Funky Room is popular among youth who enjoy rock, funk and pop music. The Excess Room in the basement features electronic beats. If you would like to dine before you dance, the Yellow Room offers great dining options. One can find many local DJs playing here.

Club Aráoz
Located at ARÁOZ 2424 in PALERMO, the nightclub draws a serious party crowd. Thursdays feature hip-hop music while DJs on Fridays and Saturdays play electronic dance and rock music for laid-back youth.

El Beso
The dancing calibrecaliber of this club at RIOBAMBA 416 in CONGRESO is high. It belongs to one of the best tango schools, La Academia del Tango Milonguero. Novice dancers can join classes before they participate in milongas organized by different companies from Tuesdays through Sundays.

El Viejo Almacén
Located at Balcarce 793-799 in San Telmo, this nightclub draws musicians and dancing troupes. The musicians perform traditional folk music while the troupes dance the tango classic. The Legendary tang singer Edmundo Rivero founded this place.

Jet Lounge
This luxurious club located at Avenida Costanera Rafael Obligado 4801 is famous for the ritzy crowd dancing until 4am and relaxing in the lounge. The people enjoy selected Champagnes until dawn which is even spectacular when the yacht club offers spectacular views of the marina. Guest International DJs frequently play music for the elegant crowd.

Kika
Located in Honduras 5339 in Palermo Soho, Kika is a huge place with two dance floors. The back room features live bands. It is popular among students and is the most crowded on Tuesdays when the club DJs play hip-hop, dubstep, indie and all-in-one electro until dawn.

La Catedral
This place was a grain factory at Sarmiento 4006 in Almagro. It was later converted into this tango club. Every evening, the club features milongas and tango classes. Most of the expert milongueros can be seen on Tuesdays. If you don’t feel like dancing, you can enjoy the professional dancers perform the traditional Argentine dance.

Mansión Dandi Royal
Located at PIEDRAS 922 in SAN Telmo, it is a boutique hotel and a tango academy. It is a great destination for a couple who met at the dance floor. Along with 30 rooms, the hotel has three ballrooms for conducting classes and events. Every Wednesday, the hotel hosts a milonga open to the guests and the general public.

Pachá
Its location at Avenida Rafael Obligado 6151 in Costanera draws celebrities like Kylie Minogue and the best of crowd. For almost 40 years, the club is famous for the electro music. This multilevel behemoth by the river offers the best views of the city. The club has produced a CD, published a magazine and even has a virtual nightclub game in Sony Playstation.

Rojo Tango
Located at Faena Hotel & Universe in Puerto Madero, this club offers five-star food, choreography and musicians. The walls as well as the menu adorn crimson velvet and gold colors. Local and international celebrities frequently visit to enjoy tango-through-the-ages show. The jazz tango troupe performs to the modern fusions of Ástor Piazzolla. The live orchestra with three course meal completes the wonderful experience at this place.

Salón Canning
This dance hall located at Avenida Scalabrini Ortíz 1331 in Palermo draws several milongas. The best is Parakultural which starts late on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. The dance floor is always crowded, so reservations are must.

The Basement
This nightspot owned by an Irish father and son is located at Rodríguez Peña 1220 in Recoleta. The basement is popular with tourists as well as porteños. The Shamrock pub serves the best Irish beers while Argentina’s best DJs play techno beats. This club makes you feel like you are sitting at a club in Ireland.

Voodoo Motel
Located at the northern edge of Palermo Hollywood on Dorrego 173, this music warehouse and club has a huge dance floor. The DJs play European beats, indie rock, Britpop and digital cumbia. The club serves signature cocktails in three bars. The outdoor space has a smoking area. The rock music on Saturdays is the best.
