Dubai among top 10 popular business destinations

Dubai has established itself in the list of world’s top 10 business destinations. A study has revealed that nearly 56 percent of the largest companies in the world are currently operating out of Dubai. This has placed Dubai at 9th position among the top 10 most popular business destinations.

The report titled 'Business Footprints - Global Office Locations' took into account 280 major foreign companies and mapped their global office footprints. These companies are spread in 232 cities across 101 countries around the world.

According to the study, Dubai has been ranked 7th globally in the industrial goods and services sector. Nearly 70 percent of the companies in this sector have their offices in Dubai. A total of 23 companies in this sector were surveyed.

Dubai with its strategic location between the Far East and Europe is considered to be a good base for conducting business. This also makes it convenient for travelers to get business class tickets to Dubai at competitive rates because of easy accessibility and multiple carriers flying to this city. Apart from Dubai, other cities that made it to the top 10 rankings as most popular business destinations include Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, London and Shanghai. Hong Kong was ranked No.1, while Singapore was placed second, Tokyo came third, London was ranked fourth, and Shanghai ranked number 5.

According to the study, many cities in less-developed emerging markets have also been selected by foreign companies to open their offices.
