EasyJet to establish another base in Naples in 2014

EasyJet announced its decision to open a new base in Italy. The airline intends to expand its network rapidly across Europe and in a bid to do the same would set up another base outside of the United Kingdom. Its new base would commence operations from the spring of 2014 from the city of Naples.

This base would be the third for the airline in the country. The carrier has witnessed rapid expansion across Europe in the recent years. It is popular for offering cheap flights to passengers, which is a prominent reason that has fueled its growth. The airline first set up a base in Naples in the year 2000. It has since been carrying millions of passengers in and out of the Italian city. In the past one year, almost 1.6 million passengers have traveled to the city with the airline.

Beginning spring, the two bases in Naples will help the carrier to fly additional 350,000 passengers on a yearly basis. The carrier has plans to operate service on 20 routes from the newly established base. Five of these twenty routes would commence service from next spring and will offer 130 flights per week to several destinations during the peak season. The carrier plans to launch twice-daily service between Naples and London Gatwick.
