Edelweiss has decided to expand its service to North America. The luxury airline is based in Switzerland and is a subsidiary of the country’s national carrier

The Zurich-San Diego route will be served with the help of an Airbus A340-300 aircraft twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays. The direct service between the two destinations would prove to be advantageous for European tourists, particularly those residing in Switzerland, with seamless connectivity to San Diego.
A spokesperson of Edelweiss said that the new seasonal service will start from June 9 and will be operational until September 18, 2017. According to the new schedule, the outbound Flight LX8018 will depart from Zurich on Monday at 1:30 pm and reach San Diego at 5:05 pm local time. The return Flight LX8019 will make its departure from San Diego on the same day at 6:45 pm and arrives in Zurich at 3:20 pm next day local time.

The customers traveling in Economy Max would be offered a total of 76 more reclined seats and additional legroom. The Economy Class cabin is equipped with a total 211 seats.
Bernd Bauer, CEO of Edelweiss, said, “California and San Diego have gained immense popularity among Swiss tourists and vacationers, who prefer spending more time and money than tourists arriving here from other countries. The company hopes to carry nearly 7,000 Swiss tourists to San Diego in 2017.”
