EL AL premium economy section Economy Class Plus launched

Israel’s national carrier EL AL recently announced the launch of its premium economy section Economy Class Plus. This new class of service introduced by the airline will be offering its customers more legroom, more seat recline and preferred seating in the economy cabin.

The airline in a statement said that the new Economy Class Plus cabin will be offering various facilities to the passengers, including an improved atmosphere, a comfort kit (with eye-shades, socks, earplugs, toothpaste and a toothbrush), a business class pillow and blanket and a wider seat cushion. Among other facilities include a foot rest and a curtain for privacy. The airline will also complete the installation of laptop and cell phone electrical outlets at every seat by year end.

The reservations for Economy Class Plus seating are now available to passengers for travel starting from July 1, 2012 on all EL AL’s state-of-the-art Boeing 747-400 aircrafts flying between New York (JFK and Newark) and Israel. The airline will be charging an additional $150 per person above the economy class fare, each way, for this preferred seat in Economy Class Plus.

The airline will be installing Economy Class Plus seating on all its Boeing 777 aircrafts in the future.

EL AL Matmid frequent flyers (Top Platinum, Platinum and Gold members) will be receiving a complimentary Economy Class Plus seat when purchasing an economy class ticket. The airline will also offer a free Economy Class Plus seat to a travel companion of a Top Platinum member in economy class. Apart from this, passengers purchasing select economy class tickets will also be entitled to receive a free Economy Class Plus seat.
