Emirates becomes first airline to operate Airbus A380 on Dubai-Kuala Lumpur route

Emirates celebrated New Year in great style with the launch of scheduled Airbus A380 service to Malaysia.

Emirates has now become the first airline to operate Airbus A380 aircraft on Dubai-Kuala Lumpur route. The inaugural flight on its arrival at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on January 1, 2012 was welcomed to a water cannon salute.

Richard Jewsbury, Senior Vice President - Commercial Operations, Far East & Australasia of Emirates, said that the launch of Airbus A380 service to Kuala Lumpur is a historic milestone for both Malaysian aviation history and Emirates. The flights are aimed at boosting trade and tourism opportunities between the two countries.

Jewsbury also said that the start of 2012 is proving to be a busy time for Emirates. Besides the launch of Dubai-Kuala Lumpur flight on January 1, Emirates has also expanded its network by introducing flights to Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro in South America from January 3, 2012. It is also scheduled to start flights to Dublin in Ireland from January 9, 2012. The expanding of routes is expected to open up more opportunities for travelers and businesses from Malaysia.
