Ethiopian Airlines continue expansion with LAX flights from June

Ethiopian Airlines is continuing with its expansion spree this year as well. The airline has announced that it will be launching its flights to Tokyo in April. The flights to two other international destinations – Los Angeles and Dublin – will also start operating from June 2015.

The flights to the new destinations will be operated with the help of the airline’s Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Apart from launching flights on the new routes, the airline is also currently offering daily flights services between Addis Ababa and London Heathrow.

Ethiopian Airlines is presently serving 83 destinations in different countries across the world. The airline has indicated that it wants to expand its network and offer convenient connections to various European cities from its main hub at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport and then onwards to major African cities such as Nairobi, Entebbe and Lilongwe.

Providing details about the new Addis Ababa-Dublin-Los Angeles route, the airline said that currently the flights between Addis Ababa and Dublin are being operated thrice weekly. The Flight ET504 departs from Addis Ababa at 2240 hrs in the evening and reaches Dublin at 0500 hrs early morning.

 However, the same service will now continue on to Los Angeles when the new service to the prominent U.S. destination is finally launched in June this year. The flight times to Los Angeles are yet to be announced.

Media reports said that flying onwards to Los Angeles via Dublin will prove to be advantageous for Ethiopian Airlines because of the U.S. customs pre-clearance facility available for U.S. bound passengers from Ireland’s capital city. The Dublin Airport presently has 29 U.S. immigration offices.
