Etihad Airways launches all-A380 service to New York JFK

Etihad Airways has recently launched all-A380 flights services between Abu Dhabi International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. UAE’s national carrier is currently serving the Abu Dhabi-New York JFK route with twice daily service. One service is being already operated with the help of superjumbo Airbus 380 aircraft, while the other service is being conducted through a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Media reports said that Flight EY101 and Flight EY100 are being operated through Airbus A380 aircraft. The Flight EY101 departs from Abu Dhabi at 10:15 hours, while Flight EY100 makes its departure from New York JFK at 22:45 hours. The Airbus A380 aircraft is configured in four classes featuring The Residence, First Class, Business Class and Economy Class.

According to the reports, New York JFK has now become Etihad Airways’ third route to be served by all-A380 service. The airline’s other all-A380 route is London, while Sydney route with the same service is being launched by October end this year. The airline has also indicated that it will be upgrading one of its two daily services to Paris with Airbus A380 aircraft during this summer season.

It may be noted that Etihad Airways inaugurated its first daily nonstop flight to New York JFK in October 2006. The service was later upgraded and became twice daily starting from March 2014. The airline however launched its first Airbus A380 aircraft on Abu Dhabi-New York JFK route in November 2015.

Peter Baumgartner, CEO of Ethihad Airways, while expressing his happiness over the launch of all-A380 service between the two destinations, said, “The response had indeed been quite phenomenal when the first Airbus A380 service was launched on Abu Dhabi-New York JFK route two years ago. The customers were particularly elated and delighted when the service on the route was expanded by introducing the superjumbo aircraft to and from the Big Apple. With the second daily service to be now operated by Airbus A380 aircraft, the airline will continue to ensure that its legendary hospitality and acclaimed service will be provided to its valued customers.”
