Etihad Airways launching direct flights to Los Angeles next June

You can now book airline tickets on Etihad Airways and fly directly to Los Angeles from Abu Dhabi. But, you’ll have to wait until June next year. UAE’s flagship carrier Etihad Airways has announced that it would be launching nonstop flights to Los Angeles from its main hub at Abu Dhabi starting from June 1, 2014. The launch of flights will however be subject to regulatory approvals.

When Etihad Airways finally launches its flights to Los Angeles, the Californian city would be the airline’s fourth destination in the United States. The other three gateways in the U.S. include Washington D.C., New York and Chicago. With the new flights, the airline would be operating 28 return flights every week between the U.S. and UAE.

According to Etihad Airways, the launch of new service will see the airline’s operations in the U.S. market being increased by 33 percent. The airline will be mostly catering to the growing business and leisure traffic demands in Los Angeles, as well as the considerable catchment area of the city. The flights between Los Angeles and Abu Dhabi would be operated with the help of a Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
