If you are a senior citizen planning to travel all alone from India to the U.S., then you just needn’t worry anymore. UAE’s national carrier Etihad Airways has recently launched first-of-its-kind package exclusively for senior citizens designed to offer enhanced privileges to those over 60 years age and above when traveling to the United States from India.
Media reports said that the package can be availed by senior citizens traveling to U.S. cities from any 11 Indian gateways on Etihad Airways. The value added services to be offered include medical and pre-flight travel checklist support, a 24/7 helpline number and special assistance at check-in counters.
Apart from these, the airline will also be offering a 10 percent discount to senior citizens booking business class tickets. Those who will be traveling in economy class will also be offered 5 percent discount on flight tickets. The discounted fares for travel in both travel classes can be availed until August 31, 2016. The travel on this offer will however be valid till December 31, 2016. The discounted tickets come along with a 60 percent bonus Etihad Guest loyalty miles on every ticket booked. The airline will be contacting the customers prior to boarding their flights to assess any special requirements needed during the course of their travel. The airline will als o be offering them additional support, whenever required.
A spokesperson of Etihad Airways said that the senior citizens traveling on all the airline’s flights from India to the U.S. would be offered Indian meals as well as Indian cabin crew. A wide range of classing and latest Indian movies would also be offered for in-flight entertainment.
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways is currently operating 175 flights services every week from 11 Indian cities, which include Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Kochi and Delhi. The six destinations being currently served in the United States by the leading Middle East carrier include San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Washington and New York.
