EVA Air enjoying 80 percent occupation rate for business class seats

Taiwan’s leading carrier EVA Air recently indicated that its business class flights have been least impacted by the ongoing economic downturn.

EVA Air in a statement said that the upper-class passengers seem to have been influenced little by the economic downturn as the airline is currently enjoying an occupation rate of 80 percent for the business class seats of its passenger flights.

The airline announced that it wants to serve its Business Class customers even better and has decided to spend about $100 million to upgrade the business class cabins on its aircrafts, mostly its Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

According to the airline, the refurbishing of the business class cabin on its first Boeing 777-300ER aircraft is due to be complete by the end of May this year. The airline also stated that the revamped aircraft will be deployed into service with the inaugural flight from Taipei to New York starting from June 2, 2012.

EVA Air currently operates four flights every week between Taipei and New York. The number of flights will be increased to five starting from June 18, 2012. The airline will also be launching flights between Taipei and Los Angeles at the end of this year. It also plans to expand its international routes to San Francisco, Toronto, Paris, Amsterdam and London in 2013.
