Taiwan’s second-largest carrier EVA Air recently said it is going to be consistent with its plans to continue expanding in North America in future. Seeing through its expansion process the airline launched new flights to Chicago from Taipei.
A spokesperson of EVA Air said that the new flights on Chicago-Taipei route will start operating from November 3, 2016. The direct service to the ‘Windy City’ will be operated four times per week. The launch of the new service will now make Chicago the airline’s sixth destination in the United States and eighth in North America.
Providing details of the new schedule, EVA Air in a statement said that the outbound flight will take off from Taipei’s Taoyuan International Airport at 19.50 hours and arrive in Chicago O’Hare Airport at 19.40 hours same day. The flights would be operated every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The return flight would depart from Chicago O’Hare at 00.20 hours and reach Taipei at 06.00 hours next day. The inbound flights would be operated evey Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
EVA Air will be deploying its latest Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for conducting its flight services on the newly launched route. The aircraft is configured with a total of 333 seats. The business class cabin would offer 39 seats. The customers traveling in premium economy would be offered 56 seats, while those booking tickets for travel in economy class would be offered 238 seats. The customers traveling in any of the classes would be able to take advantage of the in-flight Wi-Fi services as well.
The Taiwanese carrier has considered North America to be its key focus region and in recent years gradually expanded its presence in trans-Pacific region with more flights services.EVA Air had in 2014 added 10 additional weekly flights services to five North American destinations, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Vancouver. The airline further expanded its North American presence with the launch of direct flights to Houston in June 2015. The airline is also planning to extend its North American reach with the addition of three more weekly flights to New York JFK starting from October 3, 2016. EVA Air has indicated that by the end of 2016 it will be operating 78 weekly flights services between Taiwan and North America.
