Taiwanese carrier EVA Air has bagged twin awards for its
business class offerings during the Business Traveller Cellars in the Sky 2016 Awards presentation ceremony. Charles Metcalfe, co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge, presented the awards in recognition of the best first class and business class wines being served to the customers by airlines across the world.
EVA Air, Taiwan’s second largest airline, became a proud winner of twin awards. The airline was presented the Gold Medal for Best Business Class Cellar. In addition to this award, the airline also won the Best Business Class Sparkling award.
British Airways however won the top honors by winning the coveted Best Overall Wine Cellar. Malaysia Airlines, member of Oneworld airline alliance of which British Airways is also a part, bagged the coveted Best First Class Cellar award. Cathay Pacific Airways and Qatar Airways jointly won the Gold for Best First Class Sparkling. Apart from this joint award, Qatar Airways was also presented trophies for Best Presented First Class Wine List and Best Presented Business Class Wine List, respectively.
The Gold Medal for Best First Class Red was presented to Japan Airlines, while American Airlines and Malaysia Airlines won joint Gold Medal for Best First Class White. However, Finnair was declared winner of the Best Business Class White, and Brussels Airlines was presented the Best Business Class Red award. In the Best First Class Fortified/Dessert Wine category Singapore Airlines was announced winner, while the award in the Best Business Class Fortified/Dessert Wine category was won by Qatar Airways.
The participating airlines who made it to the final list of the Business Traveller Cellars in the Sky 2016 Awards included among others Virgin Atlantic, Thai Airways, South African Airways, Singapore Airlines, SAS, Qatar Airways, Qantas Airways, Philippine Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, LATAM, Korean Air, KLM, Jetstar, JetBlue, Japan Airlines, Icelandair, Garuda Indonesia, Finnair, EVA Air, El Al, Delta Air Lines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Brussels Airlines, British Airways, Austrian Airlines, All Nippon Airways, American Airlines, Alitalia, Air France, Air Canada, Air Astana, Aeroflot and Aer Lingus.
