EVEN Hotels offer cashless purchasing and keyless room entry

EVEN Hotels, InterContinental Hotels Group’s newest holistic wellness hotel brand in the United States, has recently tied up with a leading innovative identification solutions company PDC to offer keyless room entry as well as cashless purchasing. The hotel will be offering PDC’s Smart Band RFID Wristband System aimed at enhancing the guest experience. The keyless and cashless applications will be offered to the customers at the two new EVEN Hotels properties at Norwalk and Rockville, which opened in June 2014.

The customers booking their stay at either of the EVEN Hotels would be receiving an RFID room keycard upon check-in. If the customers want then a waterproof Smart Band can be purchased for $8. A securely sealed RFID chip inside the Smart Band will be storing and verifying guest data after being scanned by a reader. The Smart Band can also be taken along with by the customers upon leaving the property after stay, which can be afterwards re-used when visiting any EVEN Hotels. The unique ID number contained in each chip makes it impossible to duplicate the bands.

The RFID-enabled locks provide the customers access to their rooms upon presenting the Smart Band over the special locks. In fact, Smart Band is far more secure when compared to the common magnetic stripe key cards, which can be misplaced or lost, particularly in water and recreational environments. Smart Band stays fastened on the wrist, and it can be removed when not in use because of its re-wearable silicone design.

There are performance advantages of Smart Band’s contactless interface over magnetic stripe key cards. The performance is often impacted after dirt and debris collects on magnetic stripe key cards thus necessitating their maintenance or replacement. This is surely not the case with Smart Band RFID Wristband system. Another important advantage is that this is quite helpful in providing quick access with only a slight wave of the wrist, particularly when the customers’ hands are full of luggage thus avoiding the unnecessary fiddling for the hotel door card. The Smart Band technology is considered to be quite smarter and reliable. Apart from this, the Smart Band functions as a convenient “wrist wallet” enabling the customers to make cashless purchases at EVEN Hotels’ Cork & Kale Market and Bar following a quick scan of the band.
