Fashion and Design shows – Keeping Milan’s events calendar full

Fashion and Design have always played a fundamental role in the City of Milan. Both have also made Italy quite famous in the world as well. Milan has been incessantly welcoming business visitors round the year to its numerous trade fairs and exhibitions, particularly in the fashion and design sectors. These events have virtually kept the city’s calendar of events full. Here is an overview of the various trade events taking place in the city.

MACEF – International Home Show
The biennial International Home Show MACEF is the first in the series of events taking place in Milan throughout the year. This premier event is held every six months starting from the month of January. It takes place during the end of the month and has since its launch been greatly appreciated by the people and industry critics. The event showcases innovation, creativity and Italian excellence in home design. Leading international and domestic brands have prominently showcased their products in the home design sector year after year.
 
Exhibits at the MACEF tradeshow are categorized into six sectors – Tableware and Kitchenware; Gifts; Fashion & Accessories; Gold, Bijoux and Silver; Home Décor; and Trade & Big Volume. Apart from the exhibits in these sectors, a special event is also held as usual at Milan’s Museo della Scienza e della Tecnica or Museum of Science and Technique. This event is devoted to a separate collection of various types of household waste, in addition to showroom presentations and sampling opportunities at select restaurants.

MILANO UNICA
The MILANO UNICA event is related to fashion industry. The first series of this biennial textiles and accessories trade fair is held in February every year. The event is a great platform to showcase the best in Italian as well as European innovations and products. The tradeshow also heralds the start of the fashion trade related events in Milan from February through March. It offers a fabulous opportunity to all those who want to see or buy fashion products and accessories from leading Italian brands and connect with and browse the work of emerging designers.

The MILANO UNICA has already carved a niche for itself for being the very best in tradition, quality and research and has won appreciation from industry exhibitors, and fashion professionals and buyers from around the world. This trade fair hosts three exhibition areas. The Iconic area is devoted to dressing up and showcases historic brands. The Stream is the space portraying functional, sporty daily elegance. The Hothouse is dedicated to young, contemporary style.

MIPEL – International Leather Goods Fair
The month of March is significant for the world of fashion. Three events are held during this month. All these events are associated with the global fashion industry. The first in the series to be held is MIPEL. This international leather goods fair offers platform to showcase wallets, bags, luggage, handbags and other leather accessories. It first started in 1962 and has since been taking place in the months of March and September every year. The MIPEL has already earned a name and successfully established itself as an industry leader in the leather goods industry. The event is hosted at the futuristic Fiera Milano district and presents the current year autumn/winter collections and next year’s spring/summer collections. This is undauntedly the best leather goods trade fair to attend to see the latest trends in leather bags and accessories and connect with the craftsmen and industrialists from Italy and foreign countries.

The MICAM SHOEVENT is also held during March and on the same dates as MIPEL. However, this trade event is held in the Rho fair district. This leading international tradeshow is related to shoe collections. The MICAM also organizes a number of interesting events during the trade fair both at the Rho fair district and at many prestigious locations across the City of Milan.

The MIFUR is another popular trade event related to the fur and leather trade. This international fur and leather exhibition is exclusively open to business visitors only. Apart from these three important events, the Fiera Milano district also hosts many other events as well related to fashion trade.

Salone Internazionale del Mobile
The popular Salone Internazionale del Mobile tradeshow dedicated to home furniture is held during the month of April. It has become a leading industry event in the world of furnishings. The tradeshow is regularly hosted in the Rho fair district and prominently showcases the latest trends, and ideas and concept for home décor and furniture.

Milan Fashion Week
Finally, the Milan Fashion Week is an important event not to be missed in any case. This well-known event is held twice every year, in September-October and February-March. This is a great platform for all those related to the fashion industry.
