Fiji Airways recently announced it will be launching seasonal flights to San Francisco from Nadi, the capital city of Fiji. The direct service will be operated twice-weekly this summer and also next December beginning June 16, 2016.
The direct flights to be operated on Thursdays and Sundays every week will offer opportunity to U.S. travelers gain easy connectivity to Fiji and beyond, including New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific Island nations.
The airline while providing details about the new schedule said that the inbound flight will depart from San Francisco at 11 pm (local time) on Thursdays and Sundays, and arrive in Nadi at 5 am (local time, +2 days). The outbound flight will make its departure from Nadi at 9 pm (local time) and reach San Francisco at 12.30 pm (local time, the same day).
The flights services on San Francisco-Nadi route will be operated with the help of an Airbus A330 aircraft and will involve flight duration of over 10 hours. The aircraft will be configured with two classes – Business Class and Economy Class.
The new direct services are aimed at providing the travelers from the United States to experience and soak up the natural beauty of Fiji and its numerous islands. Moreover, the launch of the new route will also prove to be beneficial for the Fijian, Tongan and Samoan communities residing in San Francisco to visit their homeland more often.
Andre Viljoen, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, said, “The new direct service is keeping in with the airline’s ongoing network expansion and strengthening its network further into North America. The seasonal service has been designed taking into account common vacation trends out of the U.S., and also to benefit the Fijian, Samoan and Tongan communities living in San Francisco to keep in touch with their family and friends by taking flights to their homeland.”
