Finnair launching thrice-weekly flights to Chicago from June 13

Finnair will be launching seasonal flights to Chicago starting next summer. The service is being launched effective from June 13 and continue to operate till October 17, 2015.

The airline in a statement said that it will be operating the flights to Chicago from Helsinki thrice weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline will be deploying an Airbus A330 aircraft to conduct service on the route.

Providing details of flight schedule, the airline said that the flight will make its departure from Helsinki at 5.25 pm and reach Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport at 6.40 pm local time. The return flight would depart from Chicago at 10 pm and arrive in Helsinki at 2.50 pm next day.

The service on the new route is being launched as part of a joint transatlantic venture that Finnair currently has with American Airlines, Iberia and British Airways. According to recent media reports, American Airlines’ merger partner US Airways has also recently become a part of this joint transatlantic business deal. This arrangement will see all the five Oneworld alliance members cooperating with each other commercially and share revenues on flights, as well as coordinate pricing and schedules on North Atlantic routes.

Chicago O’Hare International Airport is presently the main hub of American Airlines. The launch of flights to/from Chicago will now enable the passengers of Finnair to make convenient codeshare connections to various cities within the United States.

Petri Vuori, VP Global Sales for the airline, said that the airline’s flight schedule will allow easier connectivity to Chicago through its wide network in Europe as well as Asia.
