Finnair Signature Menus on long-haul business class from 2015

Finland’s national carrier Finnair recently indicated that it has decided to tie up with the chefs from leading restaurants in Finland and will be offering Signature Menus on its long-haul business class flights from Helsinki effective from January 2015 end. The airline will continue to offer the newly-created Signature Menus through the spring of 2016.

The airline said that it will be hiring the services of three renowned chefs – Kari Aihinen from Savoy, Ari Ruoho from Nokka and, Matti Jämsén from G.W. Sundmans – to create a menu that would be a part of the airline’s Signature Menus.

Finnair in a statement said that it will also be offering special menus in 2015 to welcome the arrival of new Airbus A350 in its fleet and also to celebrate Christmas. The airline said that the hallmarks of the Signature Menus would be locally sourced best seasonal ingredients, experimenting with flavor combinations, and above all the chefs’ inspiration. The airline will be rotating the menus at an interval of three months.

Executive Head Chef at G.W. Sundmans, Matti Jämsén, will be designing the first series of the Signature Menus. The meal specially created for winters would comprise of cod, glazed pork cheek, and whitefish.

Executive Chef de cuisine of Savoy, Kari Aihinen, would be creating Signature Menu that would be inspired by the Savoy roof garden, the bees and the summer. The menu would be served to the customers in spring next year. The ingredients to be used to create the menus include grilled com-fed chicken breast, honey as a condiment, salad made from new potatoes, and asparagus.

Finnair is currently operating an extensive global flight network. The destinations being presently served in North America include Miami, New York and Toronto.
