Did you ever imagine that flying first class and feeding on Five Star-menu was a possibility? Well, if no then let’s introduce you to a reality or rather a dream come true!
International flights offering
first class travel to its patron are upping the ante significantly and going for the kill. Big players such as the Etihad and Singapore Airlines have already planned to roll out five star menus on the flight and fly a chef along. What this means is that now first class travel would not only guarantee superior comfort but would also offer tantalizing food. Double whammy really!
Etihad airlines has already started recruiting eligible chefs for its initiative. Once it’s in place, qualified chefs would be a part of the regular airline crew and offer a five star service matching a restaurant style.
This move is a major departure from the in-flight service options being offered currently. Such added options would also offer superior value for money and bring five star services to the skies. With a plethora of choices and comfort, first class flyers would not experience any disconnect in their high life.
Etihad is planning to hire 100 chefs this year and has appointed Thomas Ulherr as the Corporate Executive Chef . Before this assignment, Ulherr was working for Royal Jet as a senior manager catering and executive chef. Royal Jet is a local airline in Emirates.
Keeping the competition alive and living up to its name, Singapore Airline has also announced a new appointee. Chef Suzanne Goin has been hired as a part of its International Culinary Panel and would innovate the gastronomical offers. Chef Goin is the co-proprietor of Tavern, A.O.C and Lucques. Goin would work along French chef Alfred Portale and Georges Blanc and debut her menus on SIA flights between US cities and Singapore from August, 2011.
So, if you are planning to fly in the same high class that you live in, book first class travel and get treated to superior taste, besides the superior amenities, which include complete privacy and liquor of choice.
What would be interesting to note is how the other airlines respond to this and whether there would be more such additions to the first class travel offerings. Another significant response would be the airfare. Would it or not go up with such additional services still remains an open-question.
