Flight service suspended to Tripoli

Emirates Air recently suspended the flight service to Tripoli, Libya, due to the violence that currently broke out in the country. The airline also reported that the runway in the Benghazi, another Libyan city has been destroyed and thus the services to the North African country have been suspended with immediate effect.

The statement released by the company said, “due to the continuing unrest in Libya, flights will no longer go via Tripoli until further notice. Emirates will operate some flights direct to Tunisia, others will be cancelled. Passengers will not be accepted for flights into Tripoli from any airport until further notice."

At least 233 people have been killed last week in the violence that broke out in the country’s eastern oil-producing region. The violence has reached to Tripoli too and thus made the airline take such a move. The airline will inform its passengers once the services will be restored to Tripoli after 25th February 2011.
