Here’s good news for San Diego residents. If you have booked roundtrip tickets on Philippine Airlines for travel to Manila then you will be offered free shuttle rides to/from Los Angeles International Airport. The announcement in this regard was made by Philippine Airlines’ Los Angeles area manager Ma. Theresa B. Garces at a meeting with travel operators in San Diego recently.
Garces said, “It is difficult to drive up to Los Angeles International Airport for San Diego residents, and Philippine Airlines is therefore trying to make travel to the airport easier and hassle free. The airline has already talked to a San Diego based shuttle operator for exclusively transporting the customers of Philippine Airlines from San Diego to Los Angeles airport and vice versa. The shuttle operator will be providing non transferable travel vouchers to the airline’s customers two days in advance. This facility would be available only until December 15, 2016.”
Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines is planning to expand its U.S. operations. Philippines national carrier has revealed that it is looking forward to entering into codeshare agreement with Delta Air Lines, one of the three leading U.S. carriers.
Jaime Bautista, President of Philippine Airlines, said, “The company has already approached Delta Air Lines for a tie-up, which would allow it to expand U.S. operations with more nonstop flights from Manila, and also benefit from the airline’s huge domestic network. It also seems that the officials of Delta Air Lines have liked the proposal and may consider in future.”
Media reports said that Philippine Airlines consider United States as one of the most lucrative destinations. The airline’s decision to enter into codeshare pact with a U.S. carrier is part of its expansion strategy in the country. Moreover, Philippine Airlines is eyeing the status of a “five-star” carrier by 2020, and therefore planning route expansion.
