Flying High with KLM Royal Dutch World Business Class on B777-200

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has started operating its revamped Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The aircraft features newly renovated World Business Class and Economy Class cabins.

The World Business Class on this aircraft has exclusive facilities and exquisite décor. The full-flat seats offer comfortable sleep and individual space with privacy screens. The in-flight entertainment system (IFE) features a 17-inch screen along with a touch screen handset. The passengers can watch videos on one and play games or chat on the other screen.

Hella Jongerius, Dutch design icon wanted to give a homely feeling to the business class cabins for which she has used a palette of five different warm seat colors with handmade dot patterns. This pattern adorns the cabin curtains, carpets, the silky side of the pillows and the seats. The signature shade of KLM, vivid blue alongside other warm colors features in the décor. Other facilities in World Business Class include delectable cuisines by Michelin starred chefs including Margo Janse, Mario Ridder, Sergio Herman, Jonnie Boer, Richard Ekkebus and Peter Goossens. The expert sommelier Hubrecht Duijker selected the finest wines. The tableware with exquisitely carved designs of KLM logo is environment friendly and lightweight.

The airline has also added larger double faced pillows with dotted silk fabric on one side and pure cotton fabric on the other which helps the passengers sleep better. Viktor & Rolf offer the male and female amenity kits.

All 15 Boeing 777-200 aircrafts will be renovated by the end of 2015. Boeing 777-300ER will follow next. Two new 777-300ERs will also join the fleet in the next year.

Economy Class features ergonomically optimized headrests, extra legroom and 9 inch HD touch screen with a ‘seat chat’ app. The application allows the guests to interact with fellow passengers in the cabin. The new seats are also lightweight which reduces carbon dioxide emissions. At the end of the flight, elite travelers take a Delft Blue miniature house filled with Dutch gin as a souvenir.
