Free first class upgrades for Qantas business class fliers

Australia’s national carrier Qantas Airways has announced it will be offering a free upgrade to its business class passengers booking flights to Dallas/Fort Worth, London and Hong Kong. The airline said that the free upgrade will be offered to the customers in its Airbus A380 first class suites. The offer is valid for travel from Sydney and Melbourne.

Qantas Airways while launching its “Buy Business, Get First in one direction” offer said that the customers booking return business class tickets from Melbourne or Sydney to London, or Sydney to Hong Kong or Dallas/Fort Worth will be able to benefit from this offer and travel in its A380 first class suites on one leg of their journey.

The airline said that it will be upgrading its aircraft on Sydney-Dallas/Fort Worth route. The airline will begin upgraded flights on its Airbus A380 aircraft after replacing the existing Boeing 747 starting from September 29, 2014. The customers will however be required to book their business class tickets latest by August 31, 2014 under the first class upgrade offer. The travel period will be valid until July 31, 2015. To take the best advantage of this promotion, the customers will also be required to book their tickets making use of the more expensive Business Saver and Business Flex fare types instead of the usual Business Sale category.

Meanwhile, Qantas Airways has emerged as the “Best Airline of the Australia-Pacific Region” in the latest rankings announced during the Skytrax World Airline Awards. The airline missed a spot among the world’s top 10 airlines, and is currently ranked 11th in the world for the year 2014. The airline was however ranked No. 10 in 2013. According to media reports, more than 18 million passengers belonging to above 100 countries across the world participated in the survey this year to judge the airlines.
