Free night stay for Uber riders now at a Starwoods hotel

Car rental provider Uber is now firmly ensconced in the driver’s seat with its first-of-its-kind loyalty partnership deal with global hotel chain Starwoods Hotels & Resorts. Here comes a fabulous opportunity for Uber riders to earn “Starpoints” while traveling along and stay for free in any one of the nine leading Starwoods brands worldwide.

Media reports recently said that Uber will now be rewarding its most loyal passengers with its new partnership with Starwoods. In its unique and first-of-its-kind loyalty partnership deal, Uber has launched a ride-sharing app to allow its riders to earn “Starpoints” as they continue their travel.

The reports said that Uber riders will be able to use their Starpoints to get free nights at any of the nine Starwoods brands worldwide, including The Luxury Collection, the St. Regis, W hotels, the Sheraton and the Westin.

Uber in a statement said that the users will be first required to sign up for becoming an “Starwood Preferred Guest” (SPG) member. It may be noted that Starwoods runs its own loyalty scheme called “Starwood Preferred Guest”. For becoming a member the customers first need to pay for one night stay at a Starwoods hotel. After this initial process is complete the Uber riders will need to integrate their accounts with that of SPG in order to take benefit of this new scheme.

According to Uber officials, the passengers will be able to earn one Starpoint for each dollar spent when traveling with Uber. They could earn even more points when organizing a gateway directly through their Uber-SPG account. For one free stay at any one of the nine Starwoods brands the passengers need to collect at least 15,000 Starpoints.

Nearly 72 percent of the 290 cities worldwide where Uber is conducting its business operations have a Starwoods hotel of varied budget and range. Starwoods will be initially recognizing this new arrangement for people in San Francisco, New York, Mexico City, London and Dubai.
